The good stuff

It just works. You set up your directories once, and it watches your SCSS files. When you save a change, it auto-compiles the CSS - only when needed. I was shocked how smooth it felt. I had a missing semicolon once and spent five minutes hunting down why the compilation failed. Not a big deal, but it would’ve been faster with better feedback. Also, since it’s built on ScssPhp, it doesn’t support all the latest Sass features. If you’re doing advanced mixins or functions, you might hit limits. But for most theme work? You’re fine.

And yeah, the developer is unknown. No changelog, no GitHub link, nothing. It’s a bit of a black box. But it’s been stable for over a year now, and I’ve never had a crash or conflict. Still, if you’re paranoid about security, you might want to check it out first.

If you’re working on a WordPress theme with SCSS and hate the extra build step, WP-SCSS for WordPress is worth the download. It’s free, lightweight, and gets the job done without drama. Perfect for solo devs or small teams who want simplicity. Just don’t expect it to handle edge-case Sass syntax. But honestly, most of us don’t need that anyway.
