I sent a quick update about a side project to a friend who’s also working on something sketchy, and knowing it wouldn’t stay in our chat history felt like a weight off. No risk of screenshots either - the app blocks them while the window’s open, which is a nice touch. And yeah, the encryption is real. Not some flimsy thing. If someone intercepts the data, they’d need a PhD in cryptography to make sense of it. Also, the Mac version runs smoothly - no lag, no crashes. It’s lightweight and doesn’t scream for attention.

The not-so-good

But here’s the catch: it’s really barebones. The free version? It’s just the basics. No way to retract a message once sent. No custom themes. No group chats beyond one-on-one. And if you want to do anything beyond “send and forget,” you gotta pay. The paid plan isn’t terrible, but honestly, the extra features aren’t worth it unless you’re running a team that needs absolute secrecy. Also, the whole “no screenshots” thing is great in theory, but it’s annoying if you’re trying to share a quick visual with someone else - you can’t even take a pic of the message to send later. And the app doesn’t work well with smartwatches, so if you’re into that, don’t bother. Plus, only 1 vote on the App Store with a 5.0 rating? That feels suspicious. Either everyone loves it or nobody’s using it.

But if you want more flexibility, better features, or even just a little more fun in your messaging, skip it. This isn’t a long-term replacement for Slack or iMessage.
