Baroda mPassbook for iPhone

So you’re stuck at home, can’t get to a branch, and need to know if your salary hit your account or if that transfer went through. That’s when I grabbed this app. Honestly, it’s not flashy, but it gets the job done. I’ve used it for months now - mostly just checking balances and transaction history. No surprises, no nonsense.

The good stuff

The interface is clean and simple. You don’t need a manual to figure out how to view your passbook. Just log in, and boom - your last 10 transactions show up right away. I love that it shows both English and Hindi. My mom uses it too, and she doesn’t have to struggle with banking jargon. Also, the push notifications for new transactions are spot-on. I got alerted within seconds when my friend paid me back via UPI. That kind of instant feedback is nice when you’re waiting on money.

And it actually works without crashing. I’ve had other bank apps freeze mid-login, but this one? It just… stays put. Even on iOS 14, which isn’t exactly fresh anymore.

The not-so-good

It’s only for Bank of Baroda users. If you’re not with them, you’re out of luck. And there’s no way to export data or generate reports. I tried downloading a statement once and ended up taking screenshots. Not ideal. Also, the app doesn’t support biometric login beyond Touch ID - no Face ID. Kinda outdated for an iPhone app in 2024.

And yeah, it’s just one app among many. If you use multiple banks, you’ll need more than this. But if you’re only with BoB, it’s a decent option.

Bottom line

If you’re a Bank of Baroda customer and want a no-frills way to track your account on your iPhone, Baroda mPassbook for iPhone is worth the download. It’s free, stable, and does what it promises. Not fancy, but functional. Stick with it unless you need something more feature-rich. And hey, it beats going to the branch just to check a balance.
